Sponsorship Project
The cost of secondary school in Tanzania is so high that only 3-12% of students who finish primary school continue to the secondary level. We are committed to sponsoring students for secondary school and university who are currently enrolled in the Student Teacher Sponsorship Program at the Geytighi Primary School. We sponsor exceptional students who have completed a full year of volunteer teaching in the school. During this internship, the students receive tutoring in English from the Rift Valley Children's Fund and help with outreach programs in the local village. We have found that through this program everyone benefits. The primary school gains much needed teachers and the teacher volunteers develop greater fluency in English, in turn building much needed self esteem. We also sponsor select primary school students who we believe will benefit greatly from a private, boarding school based education. Each student's circumstances are unique and range from intellectually talented students who are orphaned or have no means of family support to students whose home environment is either dangerous to their well being or not conducive to learning.
