About Children of Tanzania Children of Tanzania was founded in 2003 to provide much needed support to children living in impoverished areas of Tanzania. While working in country, we have seen that education is vital to coping with everyday life and opens opportunities. Because Children of Tanzania believes that education can lift a person out of poverty, we focus on helping children access and stay within the educational system. There are many conditions affecting the ability of children to attend school. Hunger, poor nutrition, lack of access to clean water, inadequate or unavailable schools, lack of dormitories for nomadic children, poorly supplied schools and lack of funding for secondary and university education are a few of the impediments faced by children and parents. Our projects target these issues while remaining focused on the educational needs of children. We provide government mandated school uniforms, educational sponsorship, water wells to free children from the task of hauling water, classrooms, teacher housing, school lunch programs and all types of school supplies including desks and blackboards. Our goal, in every project we undertake, is to provide children with the possibilities for a successful future.
